Is your pond clean?

1.You find out who the owner of the pond is and ask permission to use it.

2.You collect your evidence at the waterside, so that you can quickly release the creatures back into the pond.

3.You leave the waterside as you find it.

4.You return your catch carefully when you’ve finished with it.

5. Make sure that you clean any equipment carefully so that you will not transfer diseases from one pond to another.

6. Always cover any cuts with waterproof plasters before you go pond dipping and ALWAYS TAKE AN ADULT.

We did a pond dip at our school pond in February and this is what we found

Pond skater, Dragonfly nymph, Water boatman, Water snail, Daphnia, Phantom midge larvae, Diving beetle and Beetle larvae.

We will do another pond dip in March and compare the results.
