The school was built in 1942 as a war-time day nursery providing care and education for very young children. The Local Education Authority adopted responsibility for funding and management early in the 1950s. At this time education became the main function and purpose of the school.
Much of the original building remains, although it has been modified over the years to meet the changing needs of our pupils.
The school also required some major rebuilding after a serious fire in 1988. This enabled us to provide the additional facilities of a small Library and a staff room which is also used as a class area.
We have a large garden with interesting play areas and a wide range of outdoor apparatus - much of this supplied by Parent Fund Raising over the years.
Many of our children go on to attend Stonehill JMI School.
